Before you start
Use macOS 13 or later and connect an external mouse. If you have another mouse utility running, pause it for your first test to help identify conflicts.
1. Install the app
Once the download is published, open the DMG and drag Mousely to Applications. Open it from there; keeping one copy helps avoid confusion with macOS permissions.
2. Enable permissions
In System Settings → Privacy & Security, enable Mousely under Accessibility and Input Monitoring. Reopen the app if macOS asks. In Mousely, check that the service is active.
3. Adjust scrolling
Open Scrolling and choose Precise, Balanced or Fluid. Try the app’s scroll test window and tune smoothness, distance and direction. Change one setting at a time to find your rhythm.
4. Set up buttons and gestures
In Buttons, assign an action or keyboard shortcut. In Gestures, choose a trigger button and an action for each direction. Hold it and move your mouse to perform a gesture.
5. Use quick controls
Open Mousely from the menu bar to pause enhancements, choose a profile or change smoothness. In Devices, review detected mice and configure each one.
Trial and activation
At commercial launch, the License section will let you start your 30-day trial or activate a purchased key. One key covers one Mac. Store integration and public distribution are still being prepared.
If something doesn’t respond
Scrolling feels unchanged
Check that Mousely is enabled and both permissions are on. Review the selected device and pause other mouse utilities during testing.
A button is missing
Some manufacturer drivers capture buttons before macOS receives them. Review the manufacturer’s settings and the buttons Mousely detects.
An app feels different
Each app handles scrolling in its own way. Try a more precise profile and adjust the distance. Panning also depends on each app’s support.
I have multiple copies of Mousely
Keep the copy in Applications. If you reinstalled or changed the app’s signing identity, review macOS permissions for that copy again.
